You Screamed At Me and Told Me You Love Me But You Only Love Me Because You're Taught to Do So,

2022,

Mixed Media Installation,

Installation view at the Crypt Gallery.

Modifying an Al model to create a dictative expression of the artist's history and experiences through memories, Sin explores her affirmation as an Asian woman against bizarre phenomena propagated the technological world growth and processes of westernization that fetishize non-western bodies- often present in the very minds of the fetishized.
She mentions how the experience of dehumanization in what was once perceives a safe space - Hong Kong, her own home - is present in her work, that functions almost as part of a therapeutic process. Through this installation, the artist toys with the fine line between comfort and discomfort - the fear of the foreign and the unknown but also relief from the abuse of other familiar places, the uncomfortable and draining experience in creating a distance from her own memories to put together for the video showcased but also the pride on how the present as developed from there.
