Flower Crowns and Exercise Books (2024) is a diary entry reciting my unrealised occidentalism during my school years. My desire for individualism as a teenager draws close parallels with my iclination to follow Western fashion trends— the flag, being a 2014 Tumblr fashion trend, is a physical representation of stating territory, and continues to be associated with imperial expansion. Questioning the internal systematic racism within the Hong Kong education system, each laser dot is coded to represent a school within the top 10 English-teaching and Mother-tongue-teaching secondary schools, and are separated according to their represented teaching language.
